Hundred-Year Stone Terrace Fields Introduction
The century-old stone terrace fields are located in the Guanghua (Dingbenzi) area of Zhuqi Township, Chiayi County, and serve as a testament to the hard work of the early settlers of Dingbenzi. These terraces were built by early residents to cultivate crops on sloped land, with each plot surrounded and walled by carefully stacked natural stones to stabilize the soil, prevent soil erosion, and provide a stable farming area. Despite being weathered by the elements over the past century, these stone terraces remain sturdy, showcasing the wisdom and perseverance of the ancestors. Currently, these terraces are still used by local villagers to grow various crops.
