Hundred-Year Stone Terraced Fields Introduction
The century-old stone terraced fields are located in the Guanghua (Dingbenzi) area of Zhuqi Township, Chiayi County, and serve as a testament to the hard work of the early pioneers of Dingbenzi. These terraces were constructed by early residents for farming on the hillside, with each plot surrounded by walls made of stacked natural stones, aimed at stabilizing the soil, preventing soil erosion, and providing a stable arable land. Despite a hundred years of weathering, these stone terraced fields remain strong, showcasing the wisdom and perseverance of our ancestors. Currently, these terraces are still used by local villagers for growing various crops.
