Fenqi Lake (South Side) Shuilin Trail Introduction
Fenchihu Village Loop Trail System: The sections of the Sugin Lin Trail - Laola Street Branch and the wooden plank road are currently under construction. Visitors are advised to follow on-site instructions for detours. Named for its abundant plantings of Taiwan cedar and Cryptomeria, the trail can be divided into two segments. One entrance is located next to the Land God Temple behind the second parking lot, while the other is in front of a residential area near the Zhonghe Police Station. The two routes are connected by an industrial road near the southern entrance of the "Xiajia Dianzai Trail." Starting from the Land God Temple, you descend along wooden steps beside the railway, reach an intersection with the industrial road, and enter a vast cedar forest. The tall, straight cedar trees are quite spectacular, and the ferns that grow around their trunks also compete for sunlight and space in the lush forest. Surrounding you, the diverse native plants and shrubs exhibit infinite vitality, emitting a wild atmosphere and releasing phytoncides. The wide wooden plank road and seating railings are also significant features of the Sugin Lin Trail. Following this path, you will come to a junction leading to Xiajia Dianzai (Laola Street) or back to Fenchihu Old Street. Continuing forward, you will find a quaint pavilion awaiting the melodious songs of forest birds, and later, the "Tianwai Fushi" which, according to legend, was kept from rolling down the mountain to the homes below by the manifestation of the Land God. After bypassing the southern end of Fuhua Road, you enter another section of the Sugin Lin Plank Road, returning to the cedar forest's secret haven from the edge of the forest, guided by the plank road, until you reach the other entrance.
