Fenqi Lake (Southern Side) Sugi Forest Path Introduction
It is named for the abundance of Taiwan fir and the Taiwan cedar along the way and can be divided into two sections. One entrance is located next to the land god temple behind the second parking lot. The other entrance is situated in front of a residential area near the Zhonghe Police Station. The two routes connect via an industrial road near the southern entrance of the "Xiagiao Dianzai Trail." Starting from the land god temple, descend the wooden steps alongside the railway, and after passing an intersection with the industrial road, you will enter a vast area of cedar forest. The tall, straight cedar trees are quite spectacular, with ferns growing around their trunks at higher elevations, vying for sunlight and space in the lush forest. Looking around, the diverse native plants and shrubs on the forest floor exhibit limitless vitality, not only exuding the scent of the wild but also releasing phytoncides from the plants. The spacious wooden walkway and sitting railings are also a significant feature of the cedar forest trail. At a junction that you will soon reach, another route leads to Xiagiao Dianzai (Old Street) and can also return to the Fengqi Lake Old Street. Continuing forward, you will arrive at an elegant pavilion where you can hear the melodious songs of birds in the forest, and next, the "Tianwai Fushi," which, according to legend, was prevented from rolling down the mountain into homes by the manifestation of the land god. After circling around the southern end of Fuhua Road, you will enter another section of the cedar forest trail and return to the cedar forest secret realm from the forest's edge, following the wooden path all the way to the other entrance.
