Fenqi Lake (Southern Side)杉林 Walkway Introduction
Fenchihu Circular Village Trail System: The sections of the Shanlin Trail - Laolao Street Branch and the wooden horse plank road are currently undergoing construction improvements. Visitors are advised to follow on-site instructions for detours. The trail, named for the abundant planting of Taiwan cedar and other firs along the way, can be divided into two sections. One entrance/exit is located next to the Land God Temple behind the second parking lot, while the other is situated in front of a residence near the Zhonghe Police Station. The two routes connect via the industrial road near the southern end entrance of the "Xiajiao Dianzi Trail." Starting from the Land God Temple, you descend along the wooden stairway by the railway, passing an intersection with the industrial road before entering a vast cedar forest. The towering, straight cedar trees are quite spectacular, and the ferns growing around their trunks compete for sunlight in the dense forest. Around you, a variety of native plants and shrubs in the forest floor showcase boundless vitality, exuding a wild atmosphere and releasing phytoncides. The wide wooden plank road and seating railings are also major features of the cedar trail. At the next junction, there is another route leading to Xiajiao Dianzi (Laolao Street), which also provides a way back to Fenchihu Old Street. Continuing forward, you will arrive at a charming pavilion where you can listen to the melodious songs of birds beneath the forest. Following this is the "Heavenly Stone of Blessing," said to be a manifestation of the Land God, preventing the massive rock from rolling down to the homes below. Wrapping around the southern end of Fuhua Highway, you will enter another section of the cedar plank road, once again returning to the cedar sanctuary from the forest edge. Following the wooden plank road leads you to the other entrance/exit.
