Shihpan Valley Cliff Art Park Introduction
Shihpan Valley Cliff Art Forest is located next to Shihpan Valley Waterfall on the upper reaches of Gankeng Creek, featuring a large natural rock face sloped like a sheer cliff. It is about the size of a football field, and there are ropes installed for visitors to pull themselves up the slope. Above this massive rock face, many smooth-trunked Pseudotsuga menziesii trees grow. Local villagers have named them based on their shapes, such as Grasshopper and Centipede, Giant Crab, Spider King, and Deer Antler Fork, among others. This entire area is also referred to as "Pseudotsuga Art Forest." In addition, there are several different types of trees mixed among the ones on the rock face. One massive, intricately rooted beech tree is the most favored, known as the "Centennial Beech." From here, there is a hiking route leading to the Chianan Yunfeng Triangulation Station, which takes about an hour and a half, followed by a route to Caoling.
