Shihpan Valley Cliffs Art Forest Introduction
The Shihpan Valley Cliff Art Forest is located next to the Shihpan Valley Waterfall on the upper reaches of the Qiangkang Creek. It features a natural rock face slope that is as large as a football field. A rope is provided for visitors to pull themselves up the slope. Above this large rock face, there are many smooth-trunked trees of the species known as Alstonia scholaris, which villagers have named based on their shapes, such as Grasshopper, Centipede, Giant Crab Tree, Spider King, and Deer Antler Fork, among others. The entire area is also referred to as the "Alstonia Art Forest." In addition to these, the cliffside forest includes several different species of trees. One particularly favored tree, a massive beech with twisted roots, is known as the "Centennial Beech." There is a hiking trail leading to the Chinan Yunfeng Triangulation Station, which takes about one and a half hours before connecting to Caoling.
