Shihpan Valley Cliff Art Forest Introduction
Shihpan Valley Cliff Art Forest is located next to the Shihpan Valley Waterfall in the upstream section of the Qiankeng Stream, featuring a natural rock face that resembles a large steep cliff. It is approximately the size of a football field, with ropes installed above the slope for visitors to pull themselves up. Many smooth-trunked Machilus trees grow atop this massive rock slope. Villagers have named them according to their different shapes, such as Grasshopper, Centipede, Giant Crab Tree, Spider King, and Deer Antler Fork, among others. This entire area is also referred to as the "Machilus Art Forest." Additionally, there are several different trees mixed in with the forest on the cliff. One particularly favored tree is a massive beech tree with intertwined roots, known as the "Centennial Beech." From here, a mountain trail leads to the Jianan Cloud Peak Triangulation Station, taking about an hour and a half, and then continues to Caoling.
