The views here are expansive, offering a beautiful panorama of the mountains in the Ruifen area and the mountain villages such as Ruili and Ruifeng, making it an excellent spot for watching the sunset. Proceeding from the site of the Yin-Yang Temple towards Ruili, there are several open areas where you can view sights such as Ta Mountain, Little Ta Mountain, Da Dong Mountain, and Shibi Mountain. At the 3.3K mark, there is a fork between the Fenrui Ancient Trail and the Changshan Ancient Trail. The right path leads to Changshan Ancient Trail towards Taihe, but it is temporarily closed for repairs due to damage from Typhoon Morakot. The left path leads to the intersection with the Ruitai Ancient Trail, crossing paths through the Taiwan Red Cypress and Moso Bamboo forests, where there is also a giant Livistona evergreen tree. Following the ridge line down to the 5K mark, you will find a large Moso Bamboo forest, and a steep slope ahead will take you to the endpoint at Ruili. Please be cautious of locusts on some sections of the trail.

Fenrui Ancient Trail Introduction

The views here are expansive, allowing a distant gaze at the beautiful mountains of the Ruifen area and the rural settlements of Ruili and Ruifeng. It is also an excellent spot for watching the sunset. Proceed from the site of the Yin Yang Temple ruins towards Ruili, passing several open areas where you can appreciate the scenery of Tashan, Xiaotashan, Dazhongshan, and Shibi Mountain. At the 3.3K mark, you will find a junction between the Fenrui Ancient Trail and the Changshan Ancient Trail. Heading right along the Changshan Ancient Trail leads to Taihe, but it is currently temporarily closed for repairs due to damage from Typhoon Morakot. Going left will lead you to the junction with the Ruitai Ancient Trail, where the path weaves through a forest of Taiwan red cypress and Moso bamboo, with a giant cow chaste tree along the way. Following the ridge down to the 5K mark, you will encounter a large area of Moso bamboo, and after descending a steep slope, you will reach the endpoint at Ruili. Please be cautious as some sections have locusts.

Transportation Methods:1. Take the Alishan Forest Railway from Chiayi Railway Station to Fenqi Lake Station. 2. Take the Chiayi Bus Fenqi Lake Line from Chiayi Station and get off at Fenqi Lake. 3. You can take Taiwan Tourist Shuttle or Kuo-Kuang Bus to Shizhaung Station or Alishan Station, and then transfer to a local bus to Fenqi Lake. To reach the Ruīti Ancient Trail trailhead, take the Taiwan Railway or High-Speed Rail to Chiayi Railway Station, then transfer to Chiayi County Bus 7315 and get off at "Ruili" Station. (There are only two buses available daily.)
