Fengrui Historical Trail Introduction
[Renovation completed, now reopened!] For actual opening hours, please refer to the Taiwan Forest Recreation website. The views here are expansive, allowing for a distant look at the beautiful mountains of the Ruifen area and the mountain villages of Ruili and Ruifeng. It is also an excellent spot for watching the sunset. Proceeding from the Yin Yang Temple ruins towards Ruili, there are several open areas where you can enjoy sights of Tashan, Xiaotashan, Dado Mountain, and Shibi Mountain. At the 3.3K mark is the junction of the Fenrui Ancient Trail and the Changshan Ancient Trail. Following the Changshan Ancient Trail to the right leads to Taihe, but it is temporarily closed for repairs due to damage from Typhoon Morakot. Heading left leads to the intersection with the Ruitai Ancient Trail, where you will walk through paths among the Taiwan False Cypress and Moso Bamboo forests, including a giant Cinnamomum kanehirae tree. Continuing along the ridge line down to the 5K mark, there is a large area of Moso Bamboo forest, and further down a steep slope will take you to the endpoint at Ruili. *Please be cautious of locusts in certain sections.
