Fenrui Ancient Trail Introduction
[Renovation Completed, Now Reopened!] For actual opening times, please refer to the Taiwan Forestry Recreation website. The views here are expansive, allowing a distant gaze at the beautiful mountains of the Ruifen area and the rural settlements of Ruili and Ruifeng. It is also an excellent spot for watching the sunset. Proceed from the site of the Yin Yang Temple ruins towards Ruili, passing several open areas where you can appreciate the scenery of Tashan, Xiaotashan, Dazhongshan, and Shibi Mountain. At the 3.3K mark, you will find a junction between the Fenrui Ancient Trail and the Changshan Ancient Trail. Heading right along the Changshan Ancient Trail leads to Taihe, but it is currently temporarily closed for repairs due to damage from Typhoon Morakot. Going left will lead you to the junction with the Ruitai Ancient Trail, where the path weaves through a forest of Taiwan red cypress and Moso bamboo, with a giant cow chaste tree along the way. Following the ridge down to the 5K mark, you will encounter a large area of Moso bamboo, and after descending a steep slope, you will reach the endpoint at Ruili. Please be cautious as some sections have locusts.
