The area offers wide views, allowing you to gaze at the beautiful mountains of the Ruifan area and the mountain villages of Ruichi and Ruifeng, making it an excellent spot for watching the sunset. Heading from the Yinyang Temple ruins towards Ruichi, you can enjoy the scenery of Ta Mountain, Little Ta Mountain, Dafen Mountain, and Shibi Mountain along several clearing areas. At the 3.3K marker is the junction of the Fenrui Ancient Trail and the Changshan Ancient Trail. Going right on the Changshan Ancient Trail leads to Taihe, but it is temporarily closed for repairs due to damage from Typhoon Morakot. Going left leads to the intersection with the Ruitai Ancient Trail, where you traverse a path through Taiwania forests and Moso bamboo groves, with a giant camphor tree along the way. Following the ridge down to the 5K point will bring you to a large Moso bamboo grove, and after descending a steep slope, you will reach the endpoint Ruichi. *Please be cautious of locusts in some sections.

Fengrui Historical Trail Introduction

The views here are expansive, allowing for a distant look at the beautiful mountains of the Ruifen area and the mountain villages of Ruili and Ruifeng. It is also an excellent spot for watching the sunset. Proceeding from the Yin Yang Temple ruins towards Ruili, there are several open areas where you can enjoy sights of Tashan, Xiaotashan, Dado Mountain, and Shibi Mountain. At the 3.3K mark is the junction of the Fenrui Ancient Trail and the Changshan Ancient Trail. Following the Changshan Ancient Trail to the right leads to Taihe, but it is temporarily closed for repairs due to damage from Typhoon Morakot. Heading left leads to the intersection with the Ruitai Ancient Trail, where you will walk through paths among the Taiwan False Cypress and Moso Bamboo forests, including a giant Cinnamomum kanehirae tree. Continuing along the ridge line down to the 5K mark, there is a large area of Moso Bamboo forest, and further down a steep slope will take you to the endpoint at Ruili. *Please be cautious of locusts in certain sections.

Transportation Methods:1. Take the Alishan Forest Railway from Chiayi Station to Fenqihu Station. 2. Take the Chiayi Bus Fenqihu Line from Chiayi Station and get off at Fenqihu. 3. You can also take the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle or Kuo-Kuang Bus to Shizhao Station or Alishan Station and transfer to a local bus to Fenqihu. For the Ruitai Ancient Trail Trailhead, take the Taiwan Railways or High-Speed Rail to Chiayi Station, then transfer to Chiayi County Bus 7315 and get off at "Ruili" Station. (Only two buses per day.)
