JenYi Dam Introduction
Renyi Lake Reservoir is located upstream of the Bajhang River in Fanlu Township, Chiayi County, and is classified as an off-channel earth-fill reservoir. It has a catchment area of 3.66 square kilometers, with a dam length of 1,535 meters and a width of 9 meters, providing an annual water supply of 52 million tons. The reservoir was constructed in April 1980 and began storing water in June 1987. Its water source is derived from the Bajhang River, which is channeled into the reservoir through a sedimentation pond. The intake is located about 50 meters downstream of Wufong Bridge along Taiwan Highway 3, where a diversion dam is installed. A 1.5-kilometer water conduit leads water to Renyi Lake Reservoir, which is linked with Lan Lake Reservoir to supply tap water for approximately 450,000 people in Greater Chiayi. Renyi Lake Reservoir supplies drinking water for the entire Chiayi County and City, and the surrounding area is picturesque, filled with greenery and beautiful lake scenery. There is a well-planned embankment trail along the lake where couples can often be seen, and many visitors come here to walk, exercise, fly kites, jog, and walk dogs in the morning and evening. With its pleasant scenery, Renyi Lake, located in Fanlu Township, features a naturally irregular shape that adds to its aesthetic appeal, making it the perfect recreational spot for residents in the Chiayi area on weekends.
