Renyi Dam Introduction
Renyi Lake Reservoir is located upstream of the Bajhang River in Fanlu Township, Chiayi County. It is a diversion-type earth-rock fill reservoir. The catchment area is 3.66 square kilometers, the length of the dam crest is 1535 meters, with a width of 9 meters, and the annual water supply volume is 52 million tons. The reservoir began construction in April 1980 and was completed and started to store water in June 1987. The water source comes from the Bajhang River, which is directed into the reservoir through a sedimentation pool. Its intake is located about 50 meters downstream of the Wufeng Bridge on Taiwan Highway No. 3, where a water dam is built. The water is brought into the Renyi Lake Reservoir through a 1.5-kilometer water diversion channel, linking it with the Lantan Reservoir, to supply domestic water for around 450,000 residents in the Greater Chiayi area. Renyi Lake Reservoir provides drinking water for the entire Chiayi County and City. The scenery around the lake is picturesque and lush with greenery, featuring a well-planned dam walkway along the shore. It is common to see couples strolling together, while many visitors come to walk, exercise, fly kites, jog, and walk dogs during mornings and evenings. With its charming scenery, Renyi Lake is located within Fanlu Township and has a naturally irregular shape that adds infinite beauty, making it one of the best leisure destinations for the people in the Chiayi area, especially on weekends.
