Jhen Yi Tan Reservoir Introduction
Renyi Lake Reservoir is located upstream of Bajhang River in Fanlu Township, Chiayi County, and is classified as a diversion-type earth-fill dam reservoir. It has a catchment area of 3.66 square kilometers, a dam crest length of 1,535 meters, a width of 9 meters, and an annual water supply of 52 million tons. The reservoir was constructed in April 1980 and began to store water in June 1987. Its water source is drawn from Bajhang River, which is introduced into the reservoir through a sedimentation basin. The intake is located about 50 meters downstream of Wufeng Bridge on Provincial Highway 3, where a weir is built, and water is directed into Renyi Lake Reservoir via a 1.5-kilometer waterway, connecting it with Lantan Reservoir to supply domestic water for roughly 450,000 residents in the Greater Chiayi area. Renyi Lake Reservoir provides drinking water for the entire Chiayi County and City. The area around the lake is picturesque and full of greenery, featuring a well-planned embankment trail along the lakeside. Couples often stroll there, and many visitors enjoy walking and exercising in the mornings and evenings, engaging in activities such as kite flying, jogging, and walking dogs. With its pleasant scenery, Renyi Lake is the best leisure destination for residents in the Chiayi area on weekends.
