Renyi Pond Reservoir Introduction
Renyi Lake Reservoir is located upstream of the Bajhang River in Fanlu Township, Chiayi County. It is a diversion-type earth-fill dam reservoir. The catchment area is 3.66 square kilometers, with a dam top length of 1,535 meters and a width of 9 meters, providing an annual water supply of 52 million tons. The reservoir was constructed in April 1980 and began to store water in June 1987. The water source is drawn from the Bajhang River, transported through a sedimentation basin into the reservoir. The intake is located about 50 meters downstream of the Wufeng Bridge on Provincial Highway 3, with a weir constructed and a 1.5-kilometer waterway leading to Renyi Lake Reservoir, which is interconnected with Lantan Reservoir to supply drinking water to around 450,000 residents in the Greater Chiayi area. Renyi Lake Reservoir supplies drinking water for the entire Chiayi County and City. The surrounding scenery is picturesque, filled with greenery, and there is a well-planned dam trail around the lake. It is common to see couples walking, as well as many visitors strolling or exercising in the mornings and evenings, engaging in activities like kite flying, jogging, and dog walking. The charming Renyi Lake, located within Fanlu Township, has a naturally irregular shape that adds aesthetic beauty, making it a prime recreational destination for residents in the Chiayi area on weekends.
