Renyitan Reservoir Introduction
Renyi Lake Reservoir is located upstream of Bajhang Creek in Fanlu Township, Chiayi County, and is classified as a diversion-type earth-fill dam reservoir. Its catchment area covers 3.66 square kilometers, with a dam length of 1,535 meters and a width of 9 meters, providing an annual water supply of 52 million tons. The reservoir was constructed in April 1980 and completed for water storage in June 1987. The water source is from Bajhang Creek, which is diverted through a sedimentation basin into the reservoir. The intake point is located about 50 meters downstream of Wufeng Bridge on Provincial Highway 3, where a diversion dam is built, leading water through a 1.5-kilometer waterway into Renyi Lake Reservoir. It works in conjunction with Lantan Reservoir to supply domestic water to approximately 450,000 residents in the Greater Chiayi area. Renyi Lake Reservoir provides drinking water for the entire Chiayi County and City. The picturesque scenery around the lake, filled with greenery, also features a well-planned embankment trail along the shore, frequently visited by couples. Many tourists come here to walk, jog, fly kites, or walk their dogs in the early mornings and evenings. The scenic Renyi Lake, located within Fanlu Township, has a natural irregular shape that adds to its aesthetic appeal, making it an ideal leisure destination for residents in the Chiayi area on weekends.
