Chen Ching-lan Western House Introduction
This is the Western-style mansion built by Chen Jinglan, a Singaporean overseas Chinese from Kinmen, in 1921. It is the largest Western-style building in Kinmen and represents the "foreign-style house" built by overseas Chinese returning to their hometown. The pure white exterior adds a touch of Western flair to the Chen Jinglan Mansion, while the exquisite carvings and symmetrical archways resemble Western architectural techniques, making it the most impressive feature of the mansion. After 1949, the mansion was occupied by military artillery units, served as a military hospital, and was used as a school for Kinmen Middle School and a rest center for servicemen. It is now a must-visit attraction for tourists in Kinmen, showcasing the history of overseas Chinese in Kinmen and the architecture of Western-style buildings. In front of the Chen Jinglan Mansion is Jintang Park, which features a statue of the Statue of Liberty in the center, harmonizing with the mansion's noble and elegant atmosphere. Nearby, Chenggong Beach and tunnels can be incorporated into your visit itinerary.
