Chen Ching-Lan Western-style House Introduction
This is the Western-style mansion built by Chen Jinglan, a businessman from Kinmen who resided in Singapore, in 1921. It is the largest Western-style building in Kinmen and represents the "fanzi lou" that overseas Chinese built upon returning to their homeland. The pure white exterior adds a touch of foreign flavor to the Chen Jinglan Mansion, with exquisite carvings and symmetrical arches resembling Western architectural techniques, which are the most impressive features of the mansion. After 1949, the mansion was used by the military for artillery defense, served as a military hospital, and was later utilized as a school for Kinmen Junior High School and a rest center for servicemen. It has now become a must-visit attraction for tourists in Kinmen, showcasing the history of overseas Chinese in Kinmen and the architecture of Western-style buildings. In front of the Chen Jinglan Mansion lies Jintang Park, which features a statue of the Statue of Liberty at its center, complementing the elegance of the mansion and giving it a noble appearance. Nearby, Chenggong Beach and the tunnels can be part of your itinerary.
