Kinmen Botanical Garden Introduction

The Kinmen Botanical Garden, located at the foot of Mount Taiwu, was formerly a nursery for cultivating landscape seedlings. With collaboration between the Kinmen County Government and the Forestry and Natural Conservation Bureau, it took five years to collect over 200 species of South China plants and indigenous plants of Kinmen, and plan for various areas such as: "Plant Source Planting Area," "Stream Ecozone," "Bunker Display," "Wetland Ecology and Aquatic Plant Display Area," "Viewing Area," and "Natural Ecology Zone," along with over thirty bunkers in the park, creating a botanical garden that combines nature, education, and wartime features. Visiting the Kinmen Botanical Garden allows visitors to stroll through the bamboo corridors and mountain trails, enjoy the beautiful views of Mount Taiwu, appreciate the blooming lotus in summer, and have opportunities to see magpies, rock thrushes, and hoopoes flitting through the woods, providing healing from daily fatigue in nature. The Veteran Story Museum, located within the Kinmen Botanical Garden, requires about a 20-minute walk from the main entrance of the botanical garden and is a must-see highlight of Kinmen! The Veteran Story Museum retains the layout of the former Qingtian Water Plant control room. Entering the building from the outdoor area features a rich collection of military memorabilia and tells stories centered around "people," adding a sense of intimacy, and is a place of memory for many who have served in Kinmen.
