Kinmen Botanical Garden Introduction
At the foot of Ta Wu Mountain, the Kinmen Botanical Garden was formerly the Ta Wu Nursery, dedicated to cultivating landscape seedlings. In collaboration with the Kinmen County Government and the Forestry and Nature Conservation Administration, it took five years to collect over 200 species of South China and Kinmen native plants. The garden is planned with various zones, including: "Diverse Plant Source Planting Area," "Stream Ecological Area," "Bunker Display," "Wetland Ecology and Aquatic Plant Display Area," "Viewing Area," and "Natural Ecology Zone." Together with more than thirty bunkers within the park, it becomes a botanical garden that blends nature, education, and wartime characteristics. When visiting the Kinmen Botanical Garden, one can stroll through the bamboo forest corridor and the mountain path, enjoy the beautiful views of Ta Wu Mountain, appreciate the blooming lotus flowers in summer, and perhaps catch sight of magpies, the blue whistling thrush, and hoopoes flitting through the woods, allowing nature to soothe the fatigued body and mind. Veterans Story Museum: Hidden within the Kinmen Botanical Garden, the Veterans Story Museum is approximately a 20-minute walk from the main entrance of the botanical garden, yet it is a highlight of Kinmen that should not be missed! The museum retains the layout of the former control room of the Tsing Tian Water Plant, and upon entering indoors, it showcases a wealth of military and friendship collections. As a story museum focused on "people," it offers a sense of familiarity and is a memorable place for many who have served in Kinmen to revisit. "Battlefield Secrets" reveals the development history of the botanical garden and its unique biological resources, showcasing the garden's distinctive beauty through film.
