Kinmen Botanical Garden Introduction
At the foot of Mount Taiwu lies the Kinmen Botanic Garden, which was originally a nursery dedicated to cultivating landscape seedlings. In collaboration with the Kinmen County Government and the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency, over a period of five years, more than 200 species of South China plants and indigenous Kinmen plants were collected. The garden is planned to include: "various types of plant cultivation areas", "stream ecological areas", "fortress displays", "wetland ecology and aquatic plant display areas", "viewing areas", and "natural ecological areas", along with more than thirty fortresses in the park, creating a botanical garden that combines nature, education, and battlefield characteristics. When visiting the Kinmen Botanic Garden, one can stroll through the bamboo corridor and the mountain climbing path, enjoy the beautiful views of Mount Taiwu, appreciate the blooming lotus flowers in summer, and have the chance to see magpies, thrushes, and hoopoes flitting through the woods, allowing nature to heal the fatigued mind and body. The Veterans' Story Museum is located within the Kinmen Botanic Garden, approximately a 20-minute walk from the main entrance, and it is a highlight of Kinmen that should not be missed! The museum preserves the layout of the former Qingtian Waterworks control room and showcases a rich collection of military memorabilia. As a story museum based on "people," it fosters a close connection and has become a place of remembrance for many veterans who served in Kinmen.
