Bawan Yi Introduction
The dumpling-shaped Beidou meatballs are small and cute, with a skin made from non-glutinous rice and sweet potato starch. The filling not only includes pork but also adds fresh diced bamboo shoots. The thick meatball skin presents a chewy texture, and the marinated meat sauce is infused with a strong five-spice flavor, which is the unique taste of Beidou meatballs. Beidou Township is home to no less than ten famous meatball shops, each with its own characteristics. Among them, Yiyu Meatball has been passed down to the third generation. In addition to having a chewy skin, the sauce is exceptional, with a perfect balance of sweet and salty, and spicy flavors, making it beloved by many long-time residents of Beidou.
