First Eel Workshop Introduction
Many people do not know that in Punan Village of Kouhu Township, there is the title of "Home of Eels," and it is the only community in Taiwan that is entirely dedicated to eel farming. The first eel pond was established in 1969, and by 1986, at the peak of the eel industry, nearly 96% of the village was engaged in eel farming, creating not only Taiwan's economic miracle but also earning the reputation of "Eel Kingdom." The name "Diyu Eel Pond" refers to the first eel pond in the home of eels; it has endured the hardships of the eel industry and embodies the spirit of the residents of Haikou, who face harsh conditions with perseverance, hard work, and an unyielding attitude towards fate.
