First Eel Workshop Introduction
Many people do not know that in Punan Village of Kouhu Township, there is a place known as the "Hometown of Eels." It is also the only community in Taiwan entirely dedicated to eel farming. Since the establishment of the first eel pond in 1969, and at the peak of the eel industry in 1986, nearly 96% of the villagers were engaged in eel farming. This not only created Taiwan's economic miracle but also earned the title of "Eel Kingdom." The First Eel Wave, as its name suggests, is the first eel pond in the hometown of eels. It has endured the hardships of the eel industry's development and embodies the spirit of the people of Haikou, who face harsh environments with determination and resilience, never bowing to fate.
