First Eel Workshop Introduction
Many people do not know that in Punan Village of Kouhu Township, there is a place known as the "Hometown of Eel." It is also the only community in Taiwan where the entire area is dedicated to eel farming. The first eel pond was established in 1969, and by 1986, at the peak of the eel industry, almost 96% of the village was engaged in eel farming. This not only created an economic miracle for Taiwan but also earned the village the title of "Eel Kingdom." The First Eel Pond, as the name suggests, is the first eel pond in the hometown of eel. It carries the history of the hardships faced by the eel industry and embodies the spirit of the people of Haikou, who remain resilient and unyielding in the face of adversity.
