First Unagi Workshop Introduction
Many people do not know that in Pu'nan Village of Kouhu Township, there is a place known as the "Hometown of Eel," which is also the only community in Taiwan where eel farming is the main industry. The first eel pond was established in 1969, and by 1986, during the peak of the eel industry, nearly 96% of the village was engaged in eel farming, creating not only an economic miracle for Taiwan but also earning the title of "Kingdom of Eel." The first eel pond, as its name suggests, is the first eel pond in the hometown of eel, having gone through the hardships of the eel farming industry, embodying the spirit of the people of Haikou who tirelessly face adverse conditions with perseverance and resilience, refusing to submit to fate.
