First Eel Wave Workshop Introduction
Many people do not know that in Punan Village of Kouhu Township, there is a place known as the "Home of Eel." It is the only community in Taiwan where eel farming is the main activity for the entire area. Since the establishment of the first eel pond in 1969, by 1986, the eel industry peaked with nearly 96% of the village engaged in eel farming, creating not only an economic miracle for Taiwan but also earning the title of the "Kingdom of Eel." As the name suggests, the First Eel Wave refers to the first eel pond in the hometown of eels. It has endured the hardships of the eel industry and embodies the spirit of the residents of Haikou, who face harsh environments with determination and resilience, never bowing to their fate.
