Cheng Feng-Hsi Memorial Library Introduction
The Cheng Feng-Hsi Memorial Library was established by Mr. Cheng Feng-Hsi, who, during his lifetime, was concerned about the lack of library facilities in rural areas and aspired to set up a library. Unfortunately, he passed away due to liver cancer before realizing this ambition. To fulfill her husband's wish, Mrs. Wu Chi-Chao worked tirelessly to establish the Cheng Feng-Hsi Cultural and Educational Foundation and began raising funds for the library's construction. With assistance from various parties, the library was completed in 1989, covering an area of 519.4 ping, designed by renowned architect Lee Tzu-Yuan. The library features a ship-shaped architectural design and was awarded the Excellent Township Library title in 1992. The Library of Books and Cultural Relics is located along County Road 164 in Yunlin, characterized by its distinctive sloped roof resembling a ship. The building stands out beside the lush green rice fields, resembling a sailing ship navigating the vast ocean, much like the inspiration for life found in Mr. Cheng's writings, continuously striving forward. It is situated next to County Road 164 in Kouhu Township, with the ship-shaped roof design being its most notable feature. This library embodies Mr. Cheng Feng-Hsi's greatest hope—to provide local children with a comfortable reading environment and a rich collection of books. Inside the library, exhibits include books and prosthetic limbs used by Mr. Cheng during his lifetime, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of his life and achievements.
