Founded in 1958, Hsin Yuan Beef Hot Pot was established by two brothers, Hsu Hsi-hsiung and Hsu Hsi-chi, who were merchants from the Guangdong Chaozhou region. After moving to Taiwan in 1958, they opened their business in the Pingtung Market, where they created a special Guangdong Chaozhou-style satay sauce to complement the beef-based hot pot, highlighting the sweetness of the beef.
