Yang Mama's Little Diner

Taipei Foods

This small shop, which has been operating for over 20 years in the alleys of Luzhou, relies on the delicious reputation of its A-Gei and sweet potato balls to attract an ever-growing number of regular customers. Inside the bean curd skin is packed with chewy stewed vermicelli, wrapped in fresh fish paste and placed in a steaming cup of sweet potato ball soup; you can enjoy a bite of A-Gei followed by a sip of soup, or mix the vermicelli into the soup for a different flavor experience. The special sauce drizzled over the A-Gei and sweet potato balls is also a memorable reason to return. Local residents and students have been enjoying this place for several years, with customers who have moved to central and southern Taiwan even making special trips back for a taste. This cozy little shop’s A-Gei is slightly different from that of Tamsui, and it can be served in two ways: as soup or dry. The perfect companion to the delicious A-Gei is the sauce, which is the result of the owner’s years of experience. The base sauce is made from miso, yellow beans, and chili, stir-fried and sweetened to a specific ratio that makes it sweet without being overwhelming—making it a delightful pairing with A-Gei. Mama Yang's Small Eatery has now been passed down to the second generation. To promote traditional snacks further, the old shop has been renovated, with meal models added at the entrance and air conditioning installed inside, creating a comfortable dining experience like that of a restaurant. Additionally, they have launched a delivery service online, allowing those who do not live in Luzhou to still enjoy the owner’s good cooking. Recommended dish: A-Gei.
