Hsing Fa Ting Honey Bean Ice - Beiping Branch Introduction
In the 27th year of the Republic of China, the earliest honey bean ice (ミツマメ) was operated by Mr. Chen Xi, a local from Longjing District, who sold it on the streets next to Taichung Railway Station using a handcart. At that time, honey bean ice was inspired by Japan's Shikaku ice and was made with more than a dozen ingredients. Around the 32nd year of the Republic of China, it entered the First Market, finally securing a small stall, which was named "Xin Fat Ting." After a major fire, Xin Fat Ting was fortunate that only the sign and part of the shop were damaged, so after the fire, it was renamed "Xing Fat Ting," in hopes of turning bitterness into fortune. The richly flavored honey bean ice became a beloved taste remembered by many students, soldiers, and locals of Taichung. In recent years, new products have been developed, such as shaved ice, handmade tofu pudding, and grass jelly. For decades, the business has adhered to a sincere and diligent management philosophy, and it is now run by the third generation, continuing to pass on this nostalgic and wonderful taste. Recommended menu: Signature honey bean ice, red bean milk ice, mango ice, various types of shaved ice.
