Baoguang Temple Introduction

The temple is most famous for three buildings: the Youai Bell Tower, the Seven Treasures Pagoda, and the Maitreya Buddha statue. Among them, the statue of Maitreya Buddha, which stands seven stories tall, is the most prominent landmark of Baojue Temple and has become a popular spot for visitors to take photos. In front of the Buddha, there is a garden square known as Tongxin Park, where many small Laughing Buddha statues are displayed, each in various poses, some leaning or sitting. The square also features a coal train locomotive that dates back 80 years, adding a touch of nostalgia. The top of the Youai Bell Tower is adorned with a large bell weighing 1,000 catties, a gift from the Japanese. Additionally, there is a cemetery designated as the "Japanese Bone Cemetery" located in front of the Kṣitigarbha Hall, attracting numerous Japanese tourists each year.
