Mingchi Forest Recreation Area is situated at an elevation ranging from 1,150 to 1,700 meters, boasting rich original ecology. It is common to see Mandarin ducks and mallards by the lakeside, while birds and squirrels often dart through the woods. Mingchi, also known as Chiduan, is an artificial high mountain lake embraced by dense forests, often shrouded in mist, and the emerald waters of Mingchi exude a hazy beauty, earning it the title of "Pearl of the Northern Cross." It resembles a fairyland. The lakefront garden within the area is a must-visit spot for those coming to Mingchi Forest Recreation Area. Designed in the traditional Chinese style, it features small bridges, flowing water, pavilions, and majestic pools, along with the Ciyuan (Compassion Garden), Fern Garden, Quiet Stone Garden, Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Birthday Commemoration Forest, and forest trails. Walking along the lakeside trail allows visitors to appreciate the dreamy and serene beauty of Mingchi from different angles, while the sloped paths present views of high mountain wilderness and blooming flowers, offering a chance to experience the wonders of nature.
