Lala Mountain Ecological Education Center Introduction

The Lala Mountain Ecological Education Center is a building with two floors above ground and three floors below ground, located at the starting point of the Lala Mountain Forest Trail, providing multifunctional services. It is the closest facility to the pure Red Cypress forest among the various sites managed by the Forestry and Nature Conservation Administration. A circular trail of approximately 3,700 meters has been planned in the area surrounding the giant cypress grove, with 22 interpretation signs along the trail introducing ecological information such as tree species, tree age, and tree height. It is one of the few precious cypress forests in Taiwan that can be closely accessed. In response to the establishment of the Lala Mountain National Forest Recreation Area, and to provide better hardware and software services to the public, improvement works are currently underway to transform the Ecological Education Center into a visitor center. Subsequent improvement projects, including the management station and culverts, will also begin, with the construction expected to be completed by the end of January 2023. We ask for the public's understanding regarding the inconvenience caused during the construction period and remind visitors to be particularly cautious near construction areas for safety. The original building is undergoing interior construction and has been closed for safety reasons. Visitors to the park are advised to use the public restrooms located near the upper Baling parking lot or next to the park entrance management station to save waiting time. In addition, temporary restrooms have been set up in the parking lot, and the public restroom next to Giant Tree No. 4 along the trail continues to provide service.
