Barling Bridge_Barling Grand Bridge_Barling Old Bridge Introduction
In the vast, lush forest, the Bar-ling Bridge is a light pink ribbon that spans both ends of the Dahan River, bringing delightful surprises for travelers heading to the hometown of peach. Ranked among the three famous bridges of the Northern Cross-Island Highway (the other two being the Luofu Bridge and the Dahan Bridge), the Bar-ling Bridge was completed in 2005 and is an essential landmark in the Bar-ling area. This steel bridge, measuring 220 meters in length, has a maximum span of 185 meters, making it the crown of the bridges along the Dahan River. Compared to the old Bar-ling Bridge, which only accommodates one-way traffic and has a width of merely 4.5 meters, the Bar-ling Bridge offers significantly improved traffic benefits; with a total width of 11.5 meters, it features a 7.5-meter two-way lane and a 1.5-meter pedestrian lane, alleviating the rush of vehicles on weekends traveling to Lala Mountain and Jiao Ban Mountain. The smooth curves of the Dahan River showcase a magnificent momentum, and walking on it allows one to appreciate the astonishing architectural craftsmanship. Beneath the Bar-ling Bridge, one can witness the breathtaking scenery formed by the confluence of the Yufeng River and the San Guang River. Standing on the viewing platform beside the bridge, one can gaze at the old and new double bridges framed by the emerald green valley, worthwhile for the drive to get here. Visiting Bar-ling offers more than just quietly enjoying the natural beauty; at both ends of the old bridge, there are manually dug tunnels that are no longer used for vehicle traffic. Inside, there are displays of Atayal indigenous paintings, traditional costumes, and agricultural products, allowing visitors to understand local culture. Next to the exit of Tunnel No. 1 stands the "Bar-ling Commemorative Column" (Bar-ling was the former name of Bar-ling), commemorating the completion of the Bar-ling Iron Wire Bridge, which was built during the Japanese rule. For those who love to challenge themselves, an adventurous journey awaits; put on bungee jumping gear and leap from the 43-meter-high old Bar-ling Bridge, screaming with excitement while enjoying the thrill of extreme sports.
