Qilan Forest Recreation Area Introduction

Qilan Forest Recreation Area is located in Tating Township, Tuchang Village, about 38 kilometers from Yilan City. It is a must-pass place on the way to Taiping Mountain and Pear Mountain. The area features facilities such as the former President Chiang Kai-shek's villa, a flower and tree viewing area, and forest bathing trails. The European-style Qilan Villa and the cabins in the forest provide a comfortable accommodation environment for visitors. The park is lush with flowers and trees, with plum, cherry, apricot, peach, and mountain cherry blossoms planted along the trails, blooming with the seasons and adding vibrant colors, enhancing the romantic atmosphere. Especially in spring, when the cherry blossoms bloom, it attracts many tourists to come for cherry blossom viewing. The Divine Tree Garden in Qilan Forest Recreation Area is home to the largest gathering of giant trees in Taiwan, making it well worth a visit. Each tree in the garden is over 400 years old and is named after ancient Chinese celebrities based on its age. Among the 51 giant trees, besides the four Taiwan cypress trees named after Zheng Chenggong, Zhu Xi, Guan Yu, and Yue Fei, the rest are red cypress trees. In addition to flower viewing and exploring the Divine Tree Garden, don't forget to taste the local specialty, lion’s mane mushroom, to make the trip worthwhile.
