Qilan Forest Recreational Area Introduction
Qi Lan Forest Recreation Area is located in the village of Tu Chang, Datong Township, approximately 38 kilometers from Yilan City. It is a key stopover on the way to Taiping Mountain and Li Mountain. The park features facilities such as the former President Chiang Kai-shek's villa, a flower and tree viewing area, and forest bathing trails. The European-style Qi Lan Mountain Villa and cottages provide a comfortable lodging environment for visitors. The area is adorned with lush plants, including plum, apricot, peach, and mountain cherry blossom trees planted along the walking paths, offering a colorful display that enhances the romantic atmosphere as the seasons change. Especially in spring, the cherry blossoms draw many visitors to admire their beauty. The Sacred Tree Garden in Qi Lan Forest Recreation Area is home to the largest aggregation of giant trees in Taiwan, making it a worthwhile destination. Each tree is over 400 years old and is named after famous figures from ancient Chinese history based on their age. Among the 51 giant trees, besides the four Cypresses named after Zheng Chenggong, Zhu Xi, Guan Yu, and Yue Fei, the rest are Red Cypress. In addition to flower viewing and strolling through the Sacred Tree Garden, don’t forget to taste the local specialty, Lion's Mane Mushroom, to make the visit even more worthwhile.
