Qilan Forest Recreation Area Introduction
Cilan Forest Recreation Area is located in Dachong Township, Tuchang Village, approximately 38 kilometers from Yilan City. It is a necessary stop on the way to Taiping Mountain and Pear Mountain. The park features facilities such as the former President Chiang Kai-shek's villa, a floral observation area, and forest bathing trails, while the European-style Cilan Villa and cabins provide a comfortable accommodation environment for visitors. The area is lush with flowers and trees, including plum, apricot, peach, and mountain cherry blossoms planted along the trails, blooming in different seasons to add vibrant colors and a touch of romance. Especially in spring, when cherry blossoms are in full bloom, it attracts many tourists for cherry blossom viewing. The Sacred Tree Garden within Cilan Forest Recreation Area is home to the largest gathering of giant trees in Taiwan, making it worth a visit. Each tree is over 400 years old and named after famous figures from ancient China based on their age. Among the 51 giant trees, four are Taiwan cypress named after Zheng Chenggong, Zhu Xi, Guan Yu, and Yue Fei, while the others are red cypress. In addition to flower viewing and exploring the Sacred Tree Garden, don’t forget to taste the local specialty, lion's mane mushroom, for a fulfilling trip.
