Heysong Beverage Museum Introduction
When I was young, going to weddings with my parents, what I looked forward to the most was the sweet and sour Oasis juice paired with delicious dishes that left unforgettable flavors! Adding salt to Heysong Sarsaparilla, a home remedy for colds, produces a prickly sensation that lightens the mood even if the cold isn't better yet. What is your "Heysong memory"? Take a trip down the timeline of the Heysong Beverage Museum and reminisce about the days when we all drank Heysong together. The front corridor of the museum features a wall full of illuminated displays of Sarsaparilla and soda bottles—this is the commemorative edition from the 2004 Changhua Flower Expo that sparked great popularity. Entering the museum, the exhibits on both sides depict the evolution of Heysong from its beginnings in 1925 as "Jin-Hsin Commercial Association" to becoming a major beverage manufacturer. This long history has grown alongside Taiwanese society; the first bottle of carbonated soda in Taiwan was introduced, and glass-bottled Heysong soda at banquets became shared memories among many from the 1960s and 70s. In the 1950s, as Taiwan’s economy began to take off, there was a wave of soda and Sarsaparilla drinking trends. The museum showcases years of print advertisements, signs, and trademarks, not just iron signs hung outside grocery stores, but also limited-edition electric clocks gifted by Heysong to distributors and retailers, vintage hand-painted posters, and even packaging methods—all carefully displayed and explained, recreating the splendor of that era in Taiwan. In 1995, to celebrate its 70th anniversary, Heysong launched a campaign to "collect people, items, and works," gathering a wealth of related artifacts from various regions: keychains shaped like soda bottles from childhood, prizes redeemed with bottle caps, and the earliest cooling boxes. These artifacts led to the establishment of the Heysong Museum (the predecessor of the Heysong Beverage Museum) in 1996, inviting visitors to walk through the timeline of Heysong and immerse themselves in the unique aesthetics of that era. In addition to static exhibits, there are also videos showcasing the history of Heysong, classic advertising retrospectives, and introductions to the latest production equipment. At the end of the tour, visitors will receive a beverage to experience the nostalgic joy of drinking soda.
