Lingtan Street Innovation Base Introduction
On weekends, come to the market for coffee, lectures, and cooking classes! Walking along Lingtan Street's Creative Base near Longtan Lake, colorful lanterns featuring landscapes of Longtan hang high, the air filled with the aroma of freshly baked cakes, and cheerful music playing—a surprising contrast to what was once the desolate Longtan Old First Market Food Street for 14 years! In 2016, several young locals from the 70s and 80s organized the "Hardneck Market" to promote local culture, combining creative stalls with arts performances, which sparked high discussions and led to the establishment of the Creative Base. In 2017, the Creative Base settled in the past bustling area of Longtan—First Market, named after its old name, Lingtan, gathering 20 local creative brands, injecting unprecedented creative energy into Longtan. Currently, the number of shops has approached 50, offering a rich variety including art studios, dried flowers, local farm products, picture book storytelling houses, and light snacks, making culture and creation not just an empty design but a way to bring life closer to beauty. The short Lingtan Street showcases a superb combination of the old and the new; savories like salted fish cake and apple salmon guabao provide familiar yet surprising flavors; there is even an erhu classroom where people of all ages can easily enjoy traditional music! Want to know how to cook traditional Hakka flavors? There are cooking classes open for registration! The lively scenes of the past market are captured in hand-painted postcards. Push open the vintage wooden door and savor a cup of hand-brewed coffee. The Peach Stream Fort Story House is the perfect interactive garden for families, offering picture books and hands-on experiences to learn about the past and present of the old town. Begin your exploration journey and discover the surprises in Lingtan Street’s transformation.
