Lingtan Street Creative Park Introduction
On weekends, visit the market for coffee, lectures, and cooking classes! Strolling along Lingtan Street in the Maker's Base near Longtan Big Pond, colorful lanterns depicting Longtan's landscape hang overhead, and the aroma of freshly baked cakes fills the air, accompanied by lively music. It’s hard to imagine that this was once the abandoned Longtan Old First Market food street for 14 years! In 2016, a few local youngsters from the '80s and '90s aimed to promote local culture in Longtan by organizing the "Hardneck Market," which combined cultural creative stalls and artistic performances, sparking a high level of discussion at the time, leading to the establishment of the Maker's Base. In 2017, the Maker's Base chose to settle in the past bustling area of Longtan – the First Market, named after Longtan’s old name, Lingtan, gathering 20 local cultural creative brands, injecting unprecedented cultural creative energy into Longtan. Currently, the number of shops has nearly reached 50, rich in variety including art studios, dried flowers, local agricultural products, picture book story houses, and light snacks, making culture and creativity not just empty designs but a way to bring life closer to beauty. Lingtan Street, just a few hundred meters long, showcases a wonderful blend of old and new; from salty fish egg cakes to apple salmon gua bao, chewy flavors familiar yet surprising, plus an erhu studio where both young and old can easily enjoy traditional music! Want to learn how to make traditional Hakka dishes? Here, cooking classes are open for registration! The lively scenes of the past marketplace are captured in hand-painted postcards. Push open the vintage-style wooden doors and savor a cup of hand-brewed single-origin coffee. The Peach Valley Fort Story House serves as the best interactive space for families, where children can learn about the past and present of the old town through picture books and hands-on experiences.
