Atayal people can create a wide variety of intricate patterns using just a simple loom and two weaving techniques, which evokes curiosity and admiration. As an Atayal female, I grew up watching my grandmother’s wrinkled face and deep-set eyes, focused as she skillfully weaved beautiful patterns with her agile hands, moving back and forth between threads. The unforgettable gaze often lingers in my mind, and as I grew older, I couldn't forget the touch of handwoven fabrics and the emotions stirred while watching the weaving process. We specifically use handwoven fabrics combined with modern cutting techniques, showcasing deep traditional color tones to reflect the profound eyes of our ancestors, allowing us to feel their warmth at all times. The horizontal stripes of weaving are now seen as a rainbow, representing the path to reunite with our ancestors. The diamond patterns symbolize the eyes of our ancestors, guarding the tribe. We combine indigenous motifs with leather to create unique products such as wallets and bags.
