Atayal people can weave a variety of intricate patterns using only a simple loom and two weaving techniques, evoking curiosity and admiration. As an Atayal woman, I have grown up watching my grandmother, her face lined with wrinkles and her eyes deep with focus, skillfully create beautiful patterns with her nimble hands, weaving back and forth between threads. Her unforgettable gaze always lingers in my mind, and as I grew older, I couldn't forget the touch of hand-woven fabric and the emotions felt while watching the weaving process. This fabric is specially handwoven, combined with modern tailoring methods, and showcases traditional dark color tones to express the deep eyes of the ancestral spirits, allowing one to constantly feel their warmth. The horizontal stripes of this woven fabric represent a rainbow, symbolizing the path to reunite with ancestors. The diamond pattern symbolizes the eyes of ancestors, guarding the tribe. Combining indigenous totems with leather produces unique products such as wallets and bags.
