The Atayal people can create a variety of intricate patterns using a simple loom and just two weaving techniques, which fosters curiosity and admiration. As an Atayal woman, I grew up watching my grandmother's wrinkled face and deep-set eyes, fully absorbed as she skillfully moved her hands back and forth between the threads, creating beautiful patterns. Her unforgettable gaze lingers in my mind, and as I grew older, I couldn't forget the texture of hand-woven fabric and the emotion that came from gazing at the weaving. With that in mind, I specifically created hand-woven products that combine traditional dark color tones with modern cutting techniques to reflect the profound eyes of our ancestors, allowing me to feel their warmth at all times. The horizontal stripes of the woven fabric are now viewed as a rainbow, a path to reunite with our ancestors. The diamond pattern symbolizes the eyes of our ancestors, who protect the tribe. Products such as wallets and bags are crafted by combining indigenous totems with leather, resulting in unique merchandise.
