Nankan River Waterfront Bike Path Introduction
The Nankan Creek Waterfront Bicycle Path is currently undergoing nearby construction, so please be cautious. While most towns have bicycle paths, there are only a few where you can closely appreciate the riverside scenery. The Nankan Creek Waterfront Bicycle Path successfully integrates natural landscapes into a recreational bike path that spans 22 kilometers, connecting the parks and landscaped bridges of Guishan, Taoyuan, Luzhu, and Dayuan. Cyclists can enjoy the rare open views of the city, with different charms during the day and night. As you ride along the bike path, native fish species swim in the creek, and the clean water attracts many herons foraging in the area, complemented by riverbanks made of locally sourced cobblestones, resembling an ecological landscape painting. The path runs from Nankan No. 1 Bridge in Guishan through Hutoushan Park to Nankan Creek Bridge in Luzhu, featuring a continuous green corridor with trees such as sweet pepperbush, wisteria, peach blossoms, and mountain cherry blossoms, enhancing the green space alongside the rural scenery. The entire route is flat, without significant ups and downs, making it suitable for families seeking a leisurely bike trip. The bike path is equipped with street lighting and features multiple waterfront parks along the way, which include ecological pools, bike parking areas, walking paths, sports fields, lawns, and simple children's play facilities, providing diverse recreational opportunities. Additionally, Guishan and Luzhu riverbanks have old-style water pumps. At night, the highlight of Nankan Creek lies in its magnificent landscape bridges; Guishan First Riverside Park's Xingyue Bridge, Taoyuan Bianzhuo Beautiful Bridge, Taoyuan Qingxi Rainbow Bridge, and Luzhu Nankan Creek Riverside Park's Bamboo Dream Bridge showcase dynamic lighting designs that project dazzling colors onto the bridge structures. The modern bridges present a different beauty from their daytime appearance, offering breathtaking views that attract many cyclists to pause and admire.
