Hutoushan Park All-Age Friendly Trail Introduction
Living in the city and want your little one to have the chance to get close to nature? Looking for outdoor hiking routes suitable for seniors? The Hutoushan All-Age Friendly Trail in Taoyuan City features spacious and gentle sloping boardwalks, allowing easy access for wheelchairs and strollers. Hiking becomes a family affair where age is no barrier and distance is not a concern. Enjoy a leisurely outing with the whole family! The Houtoushan All-Age Friendly Trail stretches a total of 1.5 kilometers, starting from the Aowear Forest Classroom, following the mountain road (San Sheng Road) to the Taoxin Pavilion. Along the way, it connects to existing rest areas such as the central square, picnic area, mushroom pavilion, rotary pavilion, and Jingde Temple, while also adding a caterpillar flower tunnel, which is one of the highlights of the trail. Walking through it, you can admire the swaying shadows of trees and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere. There’s also the Squirrel Nest Platform and Bird Nest Tree House, where, if you’re lucky, you might have a surprise encounter with wildlife and birds that occasionally appear. The themed Rain Drop Fountain and the Three-tiered Ecological Pool (which includes “Turtle Sunbathing,” “Building a Frog Home,” and “Flying Dragonfly”) invite you to explore the homes of these little ecological mischiefs. In August 2018, the second phase of the Houtoushan All-Age Friendly Trail was completed, extending the total length to 2.5 kilometers. The trail now connects from the parking lot of the North District Elderly Recreation Activities Center all the way to the Martyrs’ Shrine, designed without stairs throughout. Additionally, the trail can be linked to the Huling Wind Trail, connecting to the Houtoushan Eco-Park, known for its night view of Taoyuan. Unlike traditional concrete trails, the Houtoushan All-Age Friendly Trail adopts an elevated wooden boardwalk structure, preserving the natural habitats of animals and plants while reducing soil damage, leading the way in environmental education! The joy of hiking in the mountains not only allows you to exercise while enjoying a forest bath but also offers a biological experience. You can admire butterflies dancing among the bald cypress, mountain peach, fragrant maple, and natural greenery, delving deeper into the rich natural and cultural connotations of Hutoushan. The trail connects with other trails in the park, allowing you to visit attractions such as the Confucius Temple, Jingguo Plum Garden, and the Martyrs' Shrine.
