Hutou Mountain Park All-Age Friendly Trail Introduction
The "Tiger Head Mountain Scenic Area Service Facility Renovation Project" will begin construction on November 5, with phased construction and opening. Living in the city and looking to give your child a chance to get close to nature? Need a suitable hiking route for seniors? The age-friendly trail at Tiger Head Mountain, located in Taoyuan City, features a wide and gentle sloped boardwalk, making it easy to navigate with wheelchairs and strollers; thus, climbing is no longer an age issue, nor is distance a concern. Families can easily enjoy a day out together! The Tiger Head Mountain age-friendly trail is a total length of 1.5 kilometers, starting from the Arles Forest School and following the mountain road (San Sheng Road) to the Taoxin Pavilion. Along the way, it connects existing core plazas, picnic areas, a mushroom pavilion, a Rotary Pavilion, and the Jingde Shrine, while also adding a caterpillar flower corridor tunnel. The spherical wire netting design is one of the highlights of the trail, where you can walk through and appreciate the swaying shadows of trees in a leisurely atmosphere. There are also squirrel nests and birdhouse platforms, where, if you're lucky, you might encounter animals and birds that often appear in the mountains up close. With themed features such as the Rain Drop Spring and the Three-Tier Ecological Pool (which includes "Turtle Sunbathing," "Building a Frog House," and "Flying Dragon (Dragonfly)") you can explore the homes of these ecological little mischiefs. In August 2018, the second phase of the Tiger Head Mountain age-friendly trail was completed, extending the total length to 2.5 kilometers. The trail connects from the parking lot of the Northern District Elderly Cultural and Activity Center all the way to the Martyrs' Shrine, also designed without any steps. Additionally, the trail can connect to the Tiger Ridge Wind Trail, linking to the renowned Tiger Head Mountain Eco-Park known for its night views in Taoyuan. Unlike traditional concrete paths, the Tiger Head Mountain age-friendly trail utilizes an elevated wooden plank construction method, which not only protects the natural habitat of animals and plants from human destruction but also minimizes soil damage—leading by example in environmental education! The joy of hiking in the mountains is not only about exercising and enjoying the forest bath, but also provides the opportunity for biological experiences; admire butterflies fluttering among the bald cypress, mountain peach, sweet gum, and heavenly bamboo. Delve deeper into the rich natural and cultural connotations of Tiger Head Mountain. The trail also connects to other system trails within the park, allowing for visits to the Confucius Temple, Jiang Guo Mei Garden, the Martyrs' Shrine, and other attractions.
