Tengping Ancient Trail Introduction
Tengping Ancient Trail is named for its rich creeper ecology, particularly the abundant yellow creepers that thrived in earlier years. It once served as a tea garden trail under the prominent Jiang family of Beipu and is known as a favorite hiking destination in Hsinchu County. Starting from the entrance at Shishan Visitor Center, the trail spans approximately 2 kilometers, mainly consisting of dirt paths, pebbles, and wooden boardwalks, making it relatively easy to walk. Along the way, visitors can observe over 50 species of creepers and more than 80 species of ferns, including a 60-year-old duck tendon creeper, making it a highly educational hiking route. Connecting with the Liulia Ancient Trail, a combined walk takes about 1 hour. The winding path, shaped by intertwining creepers and ferns, creates an atmosphere of entering a hidden realm, and during the tung flower season, the beautiful white blossoms blanket the forest. On hot days, it's a perfect escape to the mountains, where dense trees and lush vegetation provide shade, allowing for both relaxation and exercise!
