Maiba Trail Introduction
The Maiba Trail is located in Wufeng Township, Hsinchu County, and is an intermediate mountain route that combines challenge and natural beauty. The trail is part of what mountain enthusiasts call the "Yousha Ma Traversal," which includes Youluo Mountain, Xasha Mountain, and Maiba Mountain. Known for its high difficulty, the entire traversal takes more than ten hours, but many choose to tackle Maiba Mountain individually. Maiba Mountain has an elevation of 2,113 meters and a drop of over 1,000 meters, known for its steepness, earning it the nickname "Ma Ge Lai Mountain" among climbers. The trailhead starts at the Wufeng Work Station of the Agricultural Improvement Office, with the initial section being a steep uphill climb, weaving through cedar and mixed forests. The shaded path is tranquil, with fresh air that exudes a rich forest aroma. The first peak is the northwest peak of Maiba, surrounded by Yushan Rhododendron forests, which, while lacking in views, possesses a unique serene charm. Continuing to the south fork of the Luoshan Forest Road, one can choose to head towards the main peak or the west peak. The path leading to the main peak is covered in pine needles, resembling a dreamlike misty forest. The summit offers a broad view, where, on clear days, one can overlook Zhudong Township and Wuzhishan. The section towards the west peak is flat and easy to navigate, with a soft and comfortable blanket of pine needles along the way, as light filters through the cedar forest, creating a vibrant scenery. The Maiba Trail blends challenge with natural beauty, making it ideal for strong-footed mountain enthusiasts. Here, walking in nature allows one to experience the cleansing of phytoncides, uniting body and earth, and enjoying the pure joy of hiking.
