New Wawu Hakka Cultural Conservation Area Introduction
The New Wawu Hakka Cultural Preservation Area is a preserved site of an old settlement, which was allocated to the Hakka Affairs Council by the Hsinchu County Government in November 2006 at no cost. It collaborates with local organizations such as the Zhongxing Community and Flower Drum Troupe to promote traditional Hakka arts activities. On one hand, from the perspective of cultural creativity and knowledge economy, it aims to cultivate local cultural creative industries through traditional Hakka interpretations; on the other hand, in terms of urban development, it serves not only as a recreational park green space but also enriches urban diversity, becoming a showcase of local characteristics in the Liu Family New Central Business District. In December 2010, the Cultural Assets Division of the Hsinchu County Cultural Bureau took over, continuing related activities while strengthening the participation mechanism for local interaction to seek more diverse resources and operational models.
