New Walu Hakka Cultural Conservation Area Introduction
The New Wawu Hakka Cultural Preservation Area is an old settlement preservation area. In November 2006, the Hsinchu County Government allocated it to the Hakka Affairs Council free of charge. It works in conjunction with local communities and cultural groups such as the Zhongxing Community and Hakka Drum Team to promote traditional Hakka arts activities. On one hand, from the perspective of cultural creativity and knowledge economy, it nurtures local cultural and creative industries through the interpretation of traditional Hakka culture. On the other hand, in terms of urban development, it serves not only as a leisure park and green space but also enriches urban diversity and becomes a showcase for local characteristics in the New Hsinchu City zone. In December 2010, the Cultural Assets Division of the Hsinchu County Cultural Bureau took over the area, continuing related activities while enhancing mechanisms for local interactive participation to secure a more diversified range of resources and operational models.
