Ma Tai Ancient Trail Introduction
Matai means "misty village" in the Atayal language. The trail is smooth and easy to walk, with rich ecological diversity along the way. As you walk, you will reach a single-cable suspension bridge, also known as the Lover's Bridge, which slightly sways as you cross, allowing couples to hold hands together. After that, the path turns into a natural dirt trail, letting you experience the most authentic feel of an ancient path. It is recommended for novice hikers to explore Matai Ancient Trail, where you can listen to the gentle sound of stream water and see the famous century-old Papaya trees. There are resting platforms along the way, allowing you to pause and enjoy the lush green forest, absorbing phytoncides to refresh your body and mind.
