Juexiu Temple Introduction
- Description - Keelung Juexiung Temple (Shouting Old Lord Temple) is a temple that has accompanied the children of Shouting in Keelung as they grew up, and it bears witness to the history and stories of the Keelung harbor. The original structure was built in 1875, and although it was destroyed by the ravages of war, it was gradually rebuilt in the 1950s and became a center of faith for local residents. It is one of the four major temples in Keelung, deeply respected by its devotees. - Features - The main deities of Keelung Juexiung Temple are Marshal Tian Du and Shakyamuni Buddha. According to legend, Marshal Tian Du was a musician named Lei Haiqing during the Tang Dynasty, who was not only brave in battle but also well-versed in music and drama. Many performance artists come here to pray for successful performances. It is said that Marshal Tian Du was saved by a crab in his childhood, hence crabs cannot be offered in worship, and this special taboo adds a mysterious layer to the temple.
