Longgang Trail Introduction

- Attraction Introduction - Longgang Trail is located behind National Taiwan Ocean University and is a serene pathway connecting the city with the mountains and forests. The cement path, built along the mountainous terrain, is flanked by lush greenery and the continuous sounds of insects and birds. The air carries a subtle fragrance of soil and plants, making it a trail that combines scenery, natural ecology, and hiking. - Attraction Features - The Longgang Trail has a moderate slope, equipped with stairs and cement paths, allowing even beginners who are new to hiking to complete it easily. As you ascend the stairs, the beautiful mountain and sea scenery of Keelung gradually unfolds before your eyes, with the distant Keelung Harbor and rolling mountain ranges providing a refreshing view. At the summit, a pavilion allows for scenic overlooks of Peace Island and Badouzi Fishing Port. Additionally, the Longgang Trail is rich in ecology; during the annual firefly season in early summer, you can encounter fireflies twinkling like stars in the night. Various protected or endemic species of frogs, butterflies, and over three hundred species of plants thrive in the low-elevation vegetation. Whether hiking with friends or family, there is fun to be found, and you can soak up the refreshing forest air. It is also a hidden ecological treasure in Keelung that photography and nature enthusiasts shouldn't miss. - Recommended Activities - It is recommended to visit during the firefly season. Before heading out, check the firefly season activity schedule from the Ecology Interpretation Team of National Taiwan Ocean University (IG: ntou_firefly) and register to participate in the free ecological guided tours. Alternatively, prepare sufficient water, snacks, and suitable non-slip footwear on a clear day to enjoy the beautiful views of Keelung from above. - Nearby Recommendations - Right next to Longgang Trail is Mount Gangziliao, which is one of the Minor 100 Peaks. You can also visit the national historic site Gangziliao Fort. It is recommended to set aside half a day to explore the unique history and ecology of Keelung, embarking on a beautiful journey where nature and history intersect.
