Taichung Branch of the Forestry Research Institute Accommodation Introduction

The "Taichung Branch of the Forest Administration" was built between 1927 and 1930 and served as an important Japanese-style building that provided accommodation for Japanese staff and visiting officials during the Baxianshan Forest period. The building features a rectangular layout: the eastern side is single-story, divided into a reception room and accommodation space; the western side is designed with two stories, where the first floor serves as the reception area and the second floor as a tatami room, which once offered a distant view of the lumber pond. It includes distinctive features such as ventilated second-floor protruding flooring, decorative rain shelter brackets, and unique structures like the rain bag and rain trough, showcasing the valuable characteristics of wooden architecture from the Japanese colonial period.
