Mòdòu Islet Introduction
Mudu Island is located 7 kilometers away from Jibei Island to the south. The island has a perimeter of 843 meters and an area of only 0.0244 square kilometers, making it a mini island famous for the Mudu Island Lighthouse. Due to numerous reefs in the vicinity, shipwrecks were common in the past, prompting the establishment of the Mudu Island Lighthouse during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty to guide ships, which has now been standing for over a century. The lighthouse is 40 meters tall, with a black and white tower rising above the dark brown rocky reefs, naturally exuding a majestic presence. Mudu Island, composed of basalt, retains a primitive character with its black rocks providing a distinct three-dimensional effect and layers around the island, creating splashes of waves that reveal a sense of grandeur. The journey from Jibei Island to Mudu Island traverses shallower waters, where abundant sunlight allows for a diverse marine life in this area. As the sunlight shines down, the beams dance playfully on the clear turquoise water, offering a glimpse into the underwater world.
