Lock Harbor South and North Stone Pagodas Introduction
Penghu has historically experienced the strongest winds from the northeast monsoon, which pose a threat to residents' lives. Therefore, stone pagodas were erected as a spiritual reliance for faith, serving to calm the winds and eliminate evil, hence also referred to as the Zhenshanzi Wutao and Zhenfeng Pagoda. In the 53rd year of the Republic of China, the spirit of the Emperor Xuantian from the Beiji Temple indicated the reconstruction of the collapsed stone pagoda into a nine-story structure, divided into the South Wutao and North Zitao. There is also a saying, "Layers upon layers, counts upon counts, climbing the nine deities, forever preserved for ages," indicating its grandeur, which can be considered the most spectacular in Penghu.
