青灣仙人掌公園

Qingwan Cactus Park was originally an abandoned military campsite from the Japanese occupation era. After renovations, it has now become a well-planned cactus park, featuring a basalt fortress and unique columnar basalt landscapes. Climbing to the highest point offers a beautiful view of the sea! Upon entering the park, visitors are immediately attracted by the large number of cacti. There are nearly one hundred species of cacti here, and the park is divided into different areas, where visitors can enjoy the scenery, participate in DIY experiences, and even enjoy barbecue!

Qingwan Cactus Park Introduction

At the Qingwan Cactus Park, visitors can not only admire a variety of unique plants but also see precious relics, including facilities from the Japanese colonial period such as military camps, observation platforms, fortifications, ammunition depots, and drainage ditches, all of which are well-preserved. One of the fortifications, the Dashan Fortress artillery battery built in 1902, is the earliest Japanese artillery battery in Penghu. Next to the park is the Penghu International Diving Center, which benefits from a favorable bay topography, making it especially suitable for beginners due to the relatively calm waters. Just a three-minute drive away is the pristine Shanshui Beach, which stretches over 1 kilometer and is composed of coral and shell debris. The waters are gentle and the sea is a beautiful deep blue, featuring wind-sculpted sand dune landscapes that make it one of the best natural swimming spots in Penghu. Early on, it was a very popular attraction, but as businesses have gradually exited, the number of visitors has decreased, resulting in a quieter beach. If you walk through the streets of Shanshui, you can still see fish being dried, as Shanshui is a typical fishing village with many fish processing plants, so it’s worth trying the locally famous stinky fish dried snacks!
