Qishi Xuanji Temple Kongming Temple Introduction

Located in Wen Zheng Lane, Zhongming Village, Yuchi Township, this is the only temple in Taiwan dedicated to Zhuge Liang. In front of the temple, on the right side, there is a statue of Zhuge Kongming holding a feather fan in his right hand and a scroll in his left hand, towering at 36 feet, which is said to be the tallest Kongming statue in Asia. The Wulong Platform in front of the temple features a statue representing Liu Bei's three visits to the thatched cottage. The temple consists of two floors; the second floor enshrines the martial saint Guanyu, with a statue height of nine feet, exuding an imposing and dignified aura. The first floor primarily worships Zhuge Wuhou and Xuantian Shangdi. The founding of the Kongming Temple can be traced back to the Meiji era in 1901 when a villager named Shi Tianfu began worshipping the Three Pure Ones in his own hall, calling it "Ming De Hall." Due to remarkable miracles, it gradually became a center of faith in the area. In 1924, due to the modest and cramped altar, the faithful advocated for the reconstruction of a new temple, which added deities including Zhuge Kongming and Xuantian Shangdi to the original worship of the Three Pure Ones. As the original temple was severely damaged, a new site was chosen for construction. With the help of several landowners donating land, the new temple began construction in 1979, and it was officially renamed "Qishi Xuanji Yuan."
