Chienjing Temple Introduction
The Land God Temple located next to Jiulongkou and beside the Zhushi Garden Ecological Research Center. Legend has it that when the Japanese were building a hydroelectric power project at Sun Moon Lake, local residents often saw a group of sparkling things flying in the sky, which were said to be "Dragon Silver" residing at the bottom of the lake. Disturbed by the construction, they migrated towards Puli, and this place was where people first discovered the Dragon Silver, hence the name "Jianjing." From a modern scientific perspective, on sunny days, the sunlight reflecting off the lake creates a shimmering surface, particularly at the location of the Land God Temple where the water sparkles brightly, thus the name "Jianjing."
