Nibontsuto Visitor Center Introduction

Located on the Sima Xiang Forest Road in Tai'an Township, Miaoli County, "Er Ben Song" is a place name filled with Japanese charm, reminiscent of "Yukimi." Do you know where the name "Er Ben Song" comes from? The story dates back to the Japanese colonial period when a police station named Er Ben Song was established here, and two towering pine trees stood in front of the building, hence people named it "Er Ben Song." Although the building is no longer there, remnants of the ancient tree trunks can still be seen as a reminder of the past. The old site of the police station has now been redeveloped into the Er Ben Song Interpretation Station, where Indigenous guides and volunteers are stationed to lead visitors in discovering the rich cultural history, Indigenous culture, and ecological explorations of the surrounding area. On clear days, we can overlook the magnificent Da'an River Valley, the eight tribes of Nan San Village, and even sights like Shilin Dam from the observation platform, making it one of the best viewpoints along the Yukimi route. Arriving in this pristine mountain forest, wandering through the beautiful forest path formed by lush bamboo groves and towering Cunninghamia and Taiwania trees, you can feel the serene and tranquil atmosphere that is truly captivating.
