Swartrivier Tribe Introduction
The name of the Swasiq Tribe comes from the Atayal language "Swasiq," which means a place abundant in nightshades (a type of wild vegetable); because it is located at the foot of Longshan Mountain, the name "Longshan Tribe" is also widely used. The famous entrance to the Henglong Ancient Trail is located above the Swasiq Tribe, so if you come to the Tai'an Ancient Trail or to soak in hot springs, consider taking some time to visit this tribe. Within the Swasiq Tribe, besides the Longshan Police Station and the Swasiq Church, most of the structures are residential homes. Although they are all modern concrete buildings, local residents have painted indigenous motifs on the continuous walls of their houses to recreate the atmosphere of an Atayal tribe, showcasing traditional lifestyles and local agricultural products. The tribe has also constructed unique Atayal stilt houses, and traditional artifacts and craft studios are hidden in the alleys, making it a perfect place to stroll leisurely and enjoy a tranquil and relaxing time.
