Centennial Pond Introduction
The "Pond" played an important role in the reclamation history of Sanwan. Due to the terrain, the irrigation water source here belongs to the terminal, making it impossible to maintain a fixed water volume. Therefore, the people at that time excavated many ponds for agricultural cultivation. After the construction of the Yonghe Mountain Reservoir, the importance of the ponds diminished, and with the decline of agriculture over time, these ponds gradually disappeared. In recent years, in order to preserve this important landscape feature, the residents of Beipu Village have created a leisure agricultural tourism spot featuring the cultural characteristics of the ponds. Among them, the "Sanlian Pond" is the largest, formed by the connection of three ponds: Guanyin Pond, Liwu Pond, and Dahuangpu Pond, which have been excavated for over a hundred years. The revitalization of the pond landscape not only beautifies the scenery of Beipu Village but also builds surrounding leisure walking and biking paths, while planning related activities to attract tourists to experience leisure agriculture and enjoy the rural scenery of the water town.
