Longsheng Wood Fossil Museum Introduction

The Petrified Wood Museum showcases over thirty types of colors and patterns in its flower gems, each with a background of millions of years of history, making it a world-class treasure waiting for you to admire. These fossils are the products of volcanic eruptions that occurred over a hundred million years ago, where trees, animals, and other organisms were buried by lava from the eruptions. Only under extremely harsh conditions of high temperature and low pressure can they become fossils. Some of them have integrated volcanic materials and undergone physical and chemical changes due to high heat, transforming into translucent jade. Experts at the museum state that the probability of encountering such petrified wood is one in a million, meaning that for every million trees buried by volcanic lava, only one will turn into a fossil, and petrified jade is even rarer. The Petrified Wood Exhibition Hall is located in the Longsheng Garden Material Center on Ming Sheng Road along Tianwei Highway, covering an area of five hundred ping, with more than three thousand unique petrified wood specimens and gemstones, all over a hundred million years old. Some are complete tree trunks, while others are fossils still in growth, and some stones exhibit over thirty colors, brilliantly speckled; the museum also has a sales area for visitors to purchase their favorite fossils, and the cleaning fee can be offset against their purchases.
