Chengmei Cultural Park Introduction
The Yongjing area in Changhua County offers a refined garden space that combines historical culture with tourism and relaxation. The garden integrates natural and cultural landscapes, featuring the century-old historical house "Chengmei Gongtang" and the uniquely crafted "Heyuan." The historical house narrates the arduous journey of the Wei family’s ancestors who traveled to Taiwan and established their home, preserving over a hundred years of cultural memory that promotes Confucian values and the ideal of personal development. It serves as an important site for the fusion of Holo and Hakka cultures in Taiwan. The garden follows the techniques of historically renowned gardens, blending the essence of landscape craftsmanship while housing many old trees, setting a new standard for Taiwanese garden craftsmanship. The Chengmei Cultural Garden inherits the aspirations of its ancestors, with "promoting personal development" as its core spirit, hoping to build a mutually beneficial bridge between society and enterprises, thereby becoming a model in the industry.
Chengmei Hall
The restoration project of Chengmei Hall has created a "first precedent for the restoration of historic sites in Taiwan." Keeping pace with the times, it utilizes scientific statistics to estimate restoration hours and costs, serving as a reference for future restorations. A one-to-one scale trial area has been constructed at the most challenging and complex part of the restoration project, where the second entrance meets the left inner dragon. All traditional construction methods will be simulated and tested here as a reference for the official restoration project. Once the restoration of Chengmei Hall is completed, the trial area will be preserved intact as a teaching area for architectural education and historic site research.
He Yuan
Completed in 2014 to commemorate the founders Mr. Wei Hode and Ms. Xie Ruxue, the garden features 57 pine trees and 26 cypress trees, symbolizing everlasting vitality and reminding everyone to cherish their roots and honor their parents. Additionally, there is a 550-year-old rosewood tree, which has become a popular photo spot for visitors. The garden also showcases seasonal plants, such as camellias from December to March, pink trumpet trees in April, zinnias from July to September, and Christmas flowers from October to December.
