Roundhouse Introduction
The National Historic Site "Fan-shaped Depot" is a gem of Taiwan's railway culture preservation. The Fan-shaped Depot is the only one of its kind remaining in Taiwan and is also a "Train-themed Hotel." Walking up to the viewing platform, you can overlook the entire layout of the depot from above, and see trains slowly rotating on the central 360-degree turntable, which serves as the hub for train entries and exits. Twelve tracks then fan out in a semicircular shape towards the depot, creating eye-catching radial lines that are quite unique. There is also a national treasure-level steam locomotive quietly standing aside, sharing the journey of historical and cultural timelines with travelers.
Turntable Moving Locomotive Upon entering Changhua Locomotive Depot, you can see the crew busy maintaining and repairing locomotives. The fan-shaped tracks move through the turntable, allowing the locomotives to rotate in and out of the shed, with electric and steam locomotives stored side by side.
The steam locomotive, after completing its nostalgic journey, has been stationed at the Changhua Roundhouse, adding historical and cultural preservation value to this roundhouse.
