Fan-shaped Depot Introduction
The national historic site "Roundhouse" is a treasure of Taiwan's railway culture preservation. The Roundhouse is the only remaining one in Taiwan and also serves as a "locomotive hotel." Walking up to the observation platform, one can overlook the entire Roundhouse from above, witnessing the trains slowly rotating on the central 360-degree turntable. This turntable serves as the hub for train entry and exit, followed by 12 tracks that gently spread towards the depot in a semi-circular arc, presenting a striking radial line pattern that is quite unique. Additionally, the national treasure-level steam locomotive quietly stands nearby, allowing travelers to reminisce about the historical and cultural timeline.
The turntable moving the locomotives allows you to see the maintenance and repair personnel busy at the Changhua Motive Power Depot. The fan-shaped tracks move through the turntable, allowing the locomotives to rotate in and out of the shed, where electric locomotives and steam locomotives are parked side by side.
The steam locomotive, after completing its nostalgic journey, moved into the Changhua Roundhouse, adding to the historical and cultural preservation value of this roundhouse.
