Fan-Shaped Depot Introduction
The national historic site "Shaped Depot" is a treasure of Taiwan's railway culture preservation. It is the only remaining one in Taiwan and also hosts a "train-themed hotel." Walking up to the observation deck, visitors can overlook the entire depot from above, where trains slowly rotate on the 360-degree turntable at the center. This turntable serves as a hub for trains entering and exiting, followed by twelve tracks that spread out in a semi-circular shape towards the depot, creating striking radial lines that are quite unique. Additionally, there is a nationally recognized steam locomotive quietly standing nearby, inviting travelers to reflect on the passage of historical and cultural time.
The turntable-moving locomotives can be seen at the Changhua Locomotive Depot, where maintenance and repair personnel are busy servicing the locomotives. The radial tracks move through the turntable, allowing the locomotives to rotate in and out of the garage, with electric locomotives and steam locomotives stored side by side.
The steam locomotive, after completing its nostalgic journey, has moved to the Changhua Roundhouse, enhancing the historical and cultural preservation value of this roundhouse.
