Fan-shaped Car Depot Introduction
The national historic site "Roundhouse" is a treasure for the preservation of Taiwan's railway culture. The Roundhouse is the only one of its kind left in Taiwan and also serves as a "Train Hotel". Walking up to the viewing platform, you can overlook the entire Roundhouse. You will see trains slowly rotating along the central 360-degree turntable, which serves as the hub for train entry and exit, leading to 12 tracks that radiate outwards in a semi-circular fashion toward the storage area, creating a striking radial pattern that is quite unique. There is also a national treasure-level steam locomotive quietly standing nearby, allowing travelers to reflect on the historical and cultural trajectory together.
The turntable moves the locomotives. After entering the Changhua Locomotive Depot, you can see the maintenance workers busy caring for and repairing the locomotives. The radial tracks move through the turntable, allowing the locomotives to rotate in and out of the shed, where electric locomotives and steam locomotives are lined up in the garage.
The steam locomotive, after completing its nostalgic journey, has settled in the Changhua roundhouse, enhancing the historical and cultural preservation value of this roundhouse.
