Fan-Shaped Garage Introduction
The national historic site "Fan-shaped Depot" is a precious gem for the preservation of Taiwan's railway culture. The Fan-shaped Depot is the only one remaining in Taiwan and is also a "train-themed hotel." Walking up to the observation deck, you can overlook the entire layout of the Fan-shaped Depot from a height, where trains slowly rotate around the central 360-degree turning table. This turning table serves as the hub for trains entering and exiting, followed by 12 tracks radiating outward in a semicircular shape toward the depot, creating striking radial lines that are quite unique. There's also a national treasure-level steam locomotive quietly standing by, counting the historical and cultural timelines together with travelers.
The turntable moves the locomotives, and upon entering the Changhua Depot, one can see the maintenance staff busy caring for and repairing the locomotives. The locomotives rotate and enter and exit the depot through the fan-shaped tracks via the turntable, with electric locomotives and steam locomotives housed side by side in the depot.
The steam locomotive, after completing its nostalgic journey, has settled in the Changhua Roundhouse, enhancing the historical and cultural preservation value of this roundhouse.
