Fan-shaped Garage Introduction
The national historic site "Fan-shaped Locomotive Depot" is a treasure that preserves Taiwan's railway culture impeccably. The Fan-shaped Locomotive Depot is the only one remaining in Taiwan and also functions as a "train-themed hotel." Walking onto the observation platform, one can overlook the entire structure of the depot from above, witnessing trains slowly rotating around the central 360-degree turntable. This turntable serves as the hub for trains entering and exiting, immediately connecting to 12 tracks, which radiate towards the depot in a semicircular formation, creating striking radial lines that are quite unique. Additionally, a national treasure-level steam locomotive quietly stands nearby, allowing travelers to reminisce the historical and cultural trajectory together.
The rotating turntable allows locomotives to enter the Changhua Depot, where maintenance staff are busy caring for and repairing the locomotives. The fan-shaped tracks move through the turntable, enabling the locomotives to rotate and enter or exit the shed, with electric locomotives and steam locomotives housed side by side.
The steam locomotive, after completing its nostalgic journey, has settled in the Changhua Roundhouse, adding historical and cultural preservation value to this roundhouse.
