Fan-shape Garage Introduction
The national historic site "Fan-shaped Locomotive Depot" is a gem that perfectly preserves Taiwan's railway culture. The Fan-shaped Depot is the only remaining one of its kind in Taiwan and also serves as a "Train-themed Hotel." Walking up to the observation platform, one can overlook the entire depot from above, witnessing trains slowly rotate around the central 360-degree turntable. This turntable serves as the hub for train departures and arrivals, closely followed by twelve tracks that arc outwards toward the depot in a semi-circle, creating an eye-catching radiating pattern that is quite unique. There is also a national treasure-level steam train quietly standing by, allowing travelers to reflect on the historical and cultural passage of time.
The rotating turntable moves locomotives, and upon entering the Changhua Locomotive Depot, you can see the crew busy maintaining and servicing the locomotives. The fan-shaped tracks allow locomotives to rotate and enter and exit the shed, with electric locomotives and steam locomotives stored side by side in the depot.
After completing its nostalgic journey, the steam locomotive has moved into the Changhua Roundhouse, adding to the historical and cultural preservation value of this roundhouse.
