Sheng Wang Temple Introduction
The Cheng Huang Temple, also known as Wei Hui Palace, is a national historic site established in the 11th year of the Yongzheng reign during the Qing Dynasty (1732 AD). After being destroyed during the Chen Zhou Quan incident, it was rebuilt during the Jiaqing and Guangxu periods. This ancient temple is dedicated to the worship of Chen Yuan Guang, the Sheng Wang of Kaizhang, and serves as the guardian temple for the people of Zhangzhou within Changhua City, having been a center of faith for the Zhangzhou community in the past. Chen Yuan Guang, a person from the Tang Dynasty, came from Guangzhou, Henan, and was granted the title of Wei Hui Sheng Wang for his contributions to the opening of Zhangzhou.
