Sheng Wang Temple Introduction
The Sacred Wang Temple, also known as Wei Hui Palace, is a national historic site that was established in the 11th year of the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1732 AD). It was later destroyed during the Chen Zhouquan incident and underwent renovations during the Jiaqing and Guangxu periods. This ancient temple is dedicated to the worship of Chen Yuan-guang, the Sacred Wang who opened Zhangzhou, and serves as the guardian temple for the Zhangzhou people in Changhua County. It was historically the center of faith for the Zhangzhou community. Chen Yuan-guang, who lived during the Tang Dynasty, came to Fujian from Guangzhou, Henan, and was posthumously awarded the title of Wei Hui Sacred Wang for his contributions.
