It was later destroyed during the Chen-Zhouquan incident and rebuilt during the Jiaqing and Guangxu periods. This ancient temple is dedicated to the worship of Chen Yuan Guang, the Shengwang of Kaizhang, and serves as the guardian temple for the Zhangzhou people within Changhua City. In the past, it was the center of faith for the Zhangzhou community. Chen Yuan Guang, a person from the Tang Dynasty, came to Fujian from Guangzhou, Henan, and was granted the title of Weihui Shengwang for his contributions in establishing Zhangzhou.
