Sheng Wang Temple Introduction
Saint Wang Temple, a National Historic Site, also known as Wei Hui Palace, was established in the 11th year of the Yongzheng Era during the Qing Dynasty (AD 1732). It was later destroyed during the Chen Zhouquan incident and was rebuilt during the Jiaqing and Guangxu periods. Dedicated to the worship of the Saint Wang Chen Yuan Guang, this ancient temple serves as the guardian temple for the Zhangzhou people in Changhua County and was historically a center of faith for them. Chen Yuan Guang, a person from the Tang Dynasty, came to Fujian from Guangzhou, Henan, and was granted the title of Wei Hui Sheng Wang for his contributions to opening Zhangzhou.
