Ximen Fukde Temple Introduction

Main Deity: Tudigong (God of Land) Historical Background: The Changhua Ximen Tudigong Temple (designated as a county historic site) enshrines Tudigong, commonly known as the God of Land, who is the guardian of the land and is also referred to as the Daxi Men Tudigong Temple. The exact founding date is unknown, but based on an ancient plaque hanging in the temple from the Qianlong period, it can be estimated to be around that time. The belief in Tudigong has been prevalent in the history of land reclamation among Taiwan's ancestors, where he is worshipped as a guardian deity in rural areas and as a god of wealth by merchants in the streets, leading to the saying “Tudigong at the head of the fields, at the tail of the fields, in every street and alley.” In the past, there were four gates in Changhua County—East Gate (Legeng Gate), West Gate (Qingfeng Gate), South Gate (Xuanping Gate), and North Gate (Gongchen Gate)—with a Tudigong temple built near each of the gates on the inner side.
