Yiyuan Ancient House Introduction
The largest ancient residence in Changhua - Mǎxìng Chén Residence (Yìyuán Ancient House), a national historic monument, is the largest ancient residence in Changhua and one of Taiwan's renowned mansions. It was established in the 26th year of the Daoguang era (1846 AD) by the Chen family, who became wealthy through commerce in Taitung and then purchased land to build this mansion and estate. The family produced successful candidates in the imperial examinations in the 9th year of the Xianfeng era (1859 AD), and subsequently had several scholars and successful candidates, making the family's name prominent.
