Yiyuan Old House Introduction
The largest historic residence in Changhua - Masing Chen Residence (Yiyuan Historic House) is a national historic monument. It is the largest historic house in Changhua and one of the most famous mansions in Taiwan, built in the twenty-sixth year of the Daoguang era (1846). The Chen family became wealthy through trade after migrating to Taiwan, leading them to purchase land and construct this grand residence and estate. Members of the family achieved academic success in the ninth year of the Xianfeng era (1859), and several attained the titles of juren (successful candidates) and gongsheng (candidates for the highest degree), gaining notable prestige for the family.
