Yiyuan Ancient House Introduction
Matsu's largest ancient residence - the Ma Sing Chen Mansion (Yiyuan Ancient House), a designated national historic site, is the largest ancient residence in Changhua and one of the famous mansions in Taiwan. It was built in the twenty-sixth year of the Daoguang era (1846 AD) after the Chen family became wealthy from their trading activities. They purchased land to construct this large mansion and estate. A family member achieved the highest honor in the examination in the ninth year of the Xianfeng era (1859 AD), and several others later became distinguished scholars and successful candidates, enhancing the family's renowned reputation.
