Yiyuan Ancient Residence Introduction
The largest ancient residence in Changhua - Masing Chen Residence (Yiyuan Old House), a national historical monument, is the largest traditional mansion in Changhua and one of the well-known large residences in Taiwan. It was established in the 26th year of the Daoguang era (the year 1846). The Chen family became wealthy through trade and purchased land to build this large mansion and estate. In the 9th year of the Xianfeng era (the year 1859), a family member achieved the highest degree in the imperial examinations, and later, several others held the degrees of cultural and military scholars as well as successful candidates, leading to the family's remarkable status.
