Li Binggui (1949), the son of the Songlin Master, is the only descendant among the five heirs of the Li family who has inherited the craft and has won the Global Chinese Arts Heritage Award.

Li Songlin (1907-1999), known as "Songlin Master," was an artist from a traditional woodcarving family, originally from Yongchun, Fujian. During the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty, his great-grandfather, Li Kejiu, crossed the sea to Taiwan to participate in the renovation of the Longshan Temple in Lugang, after which he settled in Lugang.
