Lin Mr. Temple Introduction

From 1709 to 1719, in the 48th to 58th year of the Kangxi reign, Shi Shibang (1671-1743), known as "Shi Changling," together with local gentry Huang Shiqing and others, gathered people from the flowing population to complete the main canal of the Babao Canal in the Changhua Plain. Due to the inherent turbulence of the Zhuoshui River, which often washed out its network of tributaries, the river’s flow was uncertain. Additionally, the shallow and wide riverbed made it difficult to draw water directly, sometimes resulting in water scarcity for irrigation. Consequently, finding a suitable upstream location with the appropriate gradient to divert the river water into the canal became the largest challenge. Later, a legendary figure known as "Mr. Lin" imparted the method, which helped overcome the difficulties.
