Sail Rock Introduction
Cape of Sailboats, located at the southeastern tip of Green Island, is a cape surrounded by the sea on three sides. It features an elevated coral reef terrace approximately 30 meters above sea level, which is a relatively flat uplifted plateau. The plateau is covered with lush green grass, earning it the nickname "Green Island Carpet." From the Cape of Sailboats, one can gaze northward at the distant sea cliffs and dramatic rock formations around Haisan Ping, standing majestically along the coastline; nearby, there are three circular hot spring pools and modern facilities of Chao Ri Hot Spring that can be viewed from a height. To the west lies the extensive coral skirt reef of Baisha Bay, and on clear days, the enchanting view of Lan Yu can be seen at the southern horizon, resembling a paradise on earth. Due to its prominent topography and elevated terrain, the Cape of Sailboats is within a wind corridor where the northeast monsoon can freely flow; combined with subsequent grazing, it has formed a low grassland landscape. From April to May each year, the Southern Cross constellation can be observed at the Cape of Sailboats, and during the migratory seasons in spring and autumn, it becomes an excellent spot for birdwatching.
