Sail Cape Introduction
Cape Belford is located at the southeastern tip of Green Island. It is a cape surrounded by the sea on three sides, featuring a coral reef terrace that rises about 30 meters above sea level, creating a relatively flat elevated area. The terrace is covered in lush green grass, earning the nickname "Green Island Carpet." From Cape Belford, one can gaze northward at the sea cliffs and rugged rocks in the distant Hsaichingping area, which stand along the coastline. Nearby, one can overlook the three circular hot spring pools and modern facilities of Chaorih Hot Springs; to the west lies a large coral skirt reef of Bashawan. On clear days, one can see Orchid Island on the southern horizon, presenting a captivating scene that resembles a paradise on earth. Due to its prominent terrain and elevated position, Cape Belford falls within the wind belt of the northeast monsoon, allowing strong winds to sweep through. Additionally, the area's post-development grazing has led to the formation of a low grassland landscape. Every year in April and May, the Southern Cross constellation can be admired from Cape Belford, and during the spring and autumn migrations of migratory birds, it becomes an excellent spot for birdwatching.
