Zhongliao Fishing Port Introduction
Zhongliao Fishing Port is located to the northwest of Green Island and was established in the 63rd year of the Republic of China (1974). It features only a simple dock and breakwater, serving as a mooring area for fishing rafts from Zhongliao Village. However, due to the susceptibility to sedimentation, maintaining the depth of the navigable waterway and anchorage has been difficult. In the 81st year of the Republic of China (1992), funding was allocated to enhance the inner breakwater and docks to facilitate boat mooring. Although Zhongliao Fishing Port is not large and is not the main transportation port on Green Island, the proximity to the Chigu Conservation Area allows for a rich variety of intertidal organisms to be observed in the surrounding area, with diverse marine life thriving in tidal pools and channels. Adjacent to the fishing port is a large area of green algal reefs, which are quite beautiful. Zhongliao Fishing Port has earned the nickname "Abundant Greenery" due to this charming green algal reef and the beautifully landscaped grassy areas created by the local government, leading to its selection as one of the top ten charming fishing ports in the third edition of the list. In addition to diving, visitors can also embark on a boat diving tour to explore the underwater scenery, where they can witness stony corals, soft corals, various species of reef fish, and invertebrates. The stunning and exhilarating experience is beyond words! Strolling along the breakwater, with the gentle Pacific breeze blowing, one can pause to gaze at the blue sea and enjoy the warm embrace of the sun. The picturesque beauty of the ocean merging with the sky instantly sweeps away all fatigue, and one’s mind becomes clear and tranquil.
