Nanliao Fishing Harbor, Green Island Introduction
South of Nanyao Fishing Port lies a continuous coral reef coast that gently slopes into the sea, rich in underwater coral reefs, tropical fish, and shellfish. Commonly seen species include feather coral, umbrella coral, and ganoderma coral, as well as barrel sponges, large sea slugs, pufferfish, speckled flounders, clownfish, and shrimp and crabs. Nanyao Fishing Port is recognized as the premier spot for underwater scenery, nicknamed "Underwater Park." The water flow is stable, with an average depth of about 15 to 20 meters, making it one of the most popular diving spots in Green Island. During low tide, a lush green seaweed bed is revealed, shining in vibrant green. In the tidal pool and rocky reefs, crustaceans and fish are abundant, often attracting seabirds in search of food, making it a birdwatching paradise and the best place for snorkeling. Nanyao Fishing Port was built in 1950 and serves as the docking point for transportation boats between Taitung and Green Island. To the north, you can see Bitou Cape and the Green Island Lighthouse, and to the south, Turtle Bay Cape, with a good view overall. On clear days, Taiwan can be seen in the distance, with the most prominent landscape being the three peaks lined up, resembling a fairyland in the sea: the central Longtou is Beidawu Mountain, flanked by Nandawu Mountain and Wutou Mountain, also a great spot for watching the sunset.
