Jiuqubi Mountain Sunrise Introduction
Kueibishan is located on the northern coast of Beiliao Village in Penghu, commonly referred to as "Turtle Mountain" because the nearby coastal area is abundant in turtles. Another explanation is that the shape of the mountain resembles a turtle lying on the shore when viewed from the sea, similar to how Guishan Island is named after its turtle-like appearance. Later, the name "Kueibishan" was established as a homophone. The "Kueibi Lianhui" at Beiliao Kueibi is one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Penghu. Kueibishan is accompanied by several small islands such as Chicken Shanjian Island and Dinggou Island, facing northeast, making it an ideal spot for watching the sunrise. Compared to the well-known Guoye sunrise, the sunrise at Beiliao Kueibishan is further enhanced by the backdrop of the East China Sea islands on the ocean surface, along with Chiyu as a background for the sunrise. When the sunrise emerges from the black silhouette of Chiyu, the visual richness of the sunrise scenery here becomes even more remarkable. During low tide, an S-shaped pebble path approximately 300 meters long is exposed between Kueibishan and the uninhabited Chiyu, providing an excellent vantage point for enjoying the sunrise. If the timing is right with the rising and falling tide synchronizing with the path exposure, it can be quite an experience; if occurring during low tide, one can also visit Chiyu to enjoy the sunrise. [Recommended Duration: 1.5 hours]
The sunrise has risen above Chiyu.
